During my 4 weeks residency at Tidal Art Centre in Lund, BC, I was able to experiment on pieces for my continuing research on creating diversity in the dialogue of conservation and climate change. As a Taiwanese Canadian with ethnicity background of the Taiwanese aboriginal people, I am seeking my voice within the dialogue of decolonization in North America. How do I position myself as an allied for the Canadian first nation community in the talks of decolonization? What is the relation to my own first nation lost identity and history? How do I create the space for indigenous immigrant value as part of the contemporary issues of wilderness habitat loss and global warming?

At the residency my mentor Brigitte Potter-Mael and I exhibited our work under the title “Commonalities” to showcase our individual research result at Tidal Art Centre. We both showed several pieces from our previous series in compliment to our work in progress pieces during the residency.

October 2020, all pandemic and covid-19 safety protocols were followed by the centre and participating artists.
